The tobacco market covers all legal sales of cigarettes and excludes sales of loose tobacco. The market volume is calculated according to numbers of cigarettes sold. The market value is calculated according to retail selling price (RSP) and includes all taxes and levies. All currency conversions in the report are calculated at 2004 annual average exchange rates.
For the purposes of this report, Europe consists of Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom. Belgium includes cigarette sales from Luxembourg.
