As TV Moves to the Web, ExtendMedia Outlines How Companies Can Power Digital Media Commerce
TORONTO, CANADA,; BOSTON, MA, (NAMC) - At Digital Hollywood Fall next week, ExtendMedia’s founder will discuss how major digital media players are monetizing Internet video with their latest broadband video initiatives, while controlling its challenges. With nearly half of Internet users watching online video at least once a month – and 24 percent watching weekly (Online Publishers Association, March 2006), content owners and distributors are rushing to tap into changing viewing habits and a burgeoning online video ad market that’s expected to grow at double the rate of overall advertising (eMarketer, September 2006). While faced with security, reliability and scale obstacles, content service providers find themselves grappling with the fundamental issue of creating a business model that satisfies consumers and rights holders alike.

In a session on “Bridging TV and Broadband: Strategic Relationships Between Advertising, Technology and Content,” Extend’s founder Keith Kocho will discuss the business opportunities for broadband video, and the ways broadband and TV experiences are cross-pollinating. Using examples of the latest major players, Kocho will illustrate the often-unknown challenges of harnessing video assets to expand business revenues and brand awareness – and techniques that have allowed these firms to succeed. The panel discussion includes representatives from Showtime Networks, TBS, VH1, and The New York Times, and is moderated by noted industry analyst Will Richmond of Broadband Directions LLC.
