College Students Call For The Rebuilding of New Orleans: The Gulf Coast Civic Works Project Looking to Spark Interest in Gulf Coast
NEW ORLEANS, LA (NAMC) - On Tuesday the state of Louisiana received support from over 100 college students that were participating in a campiagn callled "Lousiana Winter." The students are a part of the Gulf Coast Civic Works Project, which is a national effort by students to develop federal legislation to create 100,000 civic work jobs to rebuild the region using Gulf Coast residents. Students actually met with members of the community as part of this campaign to show their support for the rebuilding of the areas that were destroyed due to Hurricane Katrina and Rita. The Gulf Coast is in a depressed state at this point but if other college students across the nation join these college students in sparking some additional interest in the area from not only the government but from Corporate America, the impact could be just what is neeeded.
