Alcatel-Lucent Has a Plan But Is It Enough?
(NAMC) - When a company is on the ropes they need to take drastic measures and streamline, cut the fat and tighten the belt. This is what Alcatel-Lucent's CEO Pat Russo announced on Wednesday, the ugly term "Job Cuts" and other organizational changes that they hope will help the struggling telecom equipment company get back to its former glory, but perhaps the major change should start at the top and work its way down.

Granted Russo was instrumental in  building Lucent and merging it with Alcatel, but now the combined entities have more issues then when they were separate.  It's like being a person in tremendous debt marrying someone that is also in tremendous debt and hoping for a debt free life.

So in short, perhaps at this time a fresh outlook for Alcatel-Lucent is what is needed along side the fat cutting and managment shifts. Perhaps Citigroups Charles Prince may be available to lend a helping hand in the near future, although Mr. Prince is on the ropes with Citigroup he may be able to turn around the ailing Alcatel-Lucent.
